QVB: Queen Victoria Building
Located directly opposite of Hyatt Sydney, QVB is an architecturally stunning building, restored from back in the day and retrofitted to house a medley of known brands, eateries and shopping. All of which are built above and beneath ground and interconnected via tunnels. You can stay sheltered from the weather and continue to shop in the grand architecture.
*Special Mention Hobbyco at QVB

The walls are adorned with pictures of celebrities that have sampled their Aussie fare.
Their signature offering is the 'Tiger' (AUD$6.40), a beef pie with mashed potatoes, mushy peas and gravy. Unlike the store-bought minced variety, their pies are filled chunks of beef and oh so filling!
Till A&W returns, the chilli dog (AUD$6) is also worth a try, with ample portions of chilli con carne and a nice amount of spice.*Contributed by Denison Tan

Passionflower
Cue nostalgic memories of undergraduate days in NSW... Located inside the Capitol Theatre building, it is a popular hangout for Asian students and serves all sorts of Asian-inspired flavours of ice-cream. While it was thick and creamy, the Pandan flavour was a bit light though the Thai Milk Tea tasted authentic enough.

Star Bar

Located about 200m from the hotel, southwards on George Street, this bar seemed to have a deal too good to miss out on, but we did. 250gm certified Angus Rump Steak AUD11.95 and an even 2-4-1 meal offers, 1200-2200hrs Thursday and Wednesday.

The Angus Steak was bland compared other cuts one has sampled before. Disappointing. The Schnitzel with Prawns fared better - crunchy without too much oil and a cream sauce to accompany the chicken.

Sporadic 24hrs Kebab shops also line this district.
